Klima Agence | Activity report and new campaign

Activity report

On October 15, 2024, the Climate Agency presented the results of its independent and free advisory services and its new awareness-raising campaign to the press.

The focus was on activities for households, municipalities and professionals. With the goal of making the topic of climate and energy even more accessible, it has also launched the “Solar Challengecompetition and a call for projects for the energy-efficient renovation of residential buildings. For more information, please read the press release.

New campaign

The purpose of the campaign is to highlight the expertise and assistance that is available. In order to implement a project in the context of the energy transition, you need expert advice. The Climate Agency supports all those who are involved, regardless of whether they want to have their homes renovated with insulation, build a photovoltaic system, heat with renewable energies or switch to electromobility.

Solar Challenge

The “Solar Challenge” is meant to increase the willingness of the actors (municipalities, citizens or companies) and motivate them to generate more electricity by using solar energy.

What if you could generate energy… from the sun and directly on your balcony?

Balcony power plants are small photovoltaic systems, usually consisting of two modules and an inverter, that can be installed very easily. That is why they are often referred to as “Plug&Play”. However, the power of such a plant must not exceed 799 W (inverter power).

How does it work?

The balcony power plant generates electricity from its solar modules and feeds it directly into the home’s electrical grid via a standard electrical outlet. The electricity generated can then be consumed directly in the home. The surplus is fed into the public electricity grid but is not remunerated.

What do I need to pay attention to?

Modules must be CE certified. A “Wieland” plug (a special socket with outwardly isolated contacts) is recommended for safety reasons. Electrical installation must comply with current safety standards. A differential circuit breaker must be installed in the circuit. To ensure that modules placed outside are not torn off in the event of a storm, and to avoid any risk of injury, they must be sufficiently fixed or screwed in place.

Is a balcony power plant profitable?

A balcony power plant can reduce your electricity costs. It is more profitable if you manage to consume the electricity it generates yourself. You can check in advance, for example on your electricity supplier’s customer portal whether your electricity base load is sufficient to consume the electricity generated.

Can I also benefit from subsidies for a balcony power plant?

To qualify for the Klimabonus, the installation of the balcony power plant must be carried out by a professional. The financial aid can amount up to 62.5% of the costs (excluding VAT), with a maximum of 1,562.5 €/kWp if the offer is signed between January 1st, 2023 and December 31st, 2023. The application form must be signed by the professional who installed the system!
